A Week in Texas
Experimental Artist Book Series
There is a long history of border crisis between the United States and Mexico. It has been a site of political conflict, social struggle, and intense creative ferment. When I visited a border area near Big Bend National Park, I was stunned by the amount daily of Mexican commuters to the United States who sell hand-crafted walking sticks, water, and Mexican goods. I was awed by the many complicated layers of meaning and tension that the borders in the desert represent. This project remembers those people who risk their lives to cross the border to maintain their livelihood.
